The Director of State Courts Office is accepting applications for court-interpreter training in June in Wisconsin Rapids.

The training session will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 1 and 2 at the Hotel Mead & Conference Center, 451 E. Grand Ave., Wisconsin Rapids. The fee for the training is $195, which will cover lunch and training materials.

The training will cover the fundamentals of court interpreting, giving those who attend an overview of the court system s needs and expectations.

Going through the session is the first step toward becoming a Wisconsin-certified court interpreter. To be placed on a roster of certified interpreters, a candidate must also perform well on written and oral exams, undergo a character and fitness exam, take an oath of office and observe at least two hours of court proceedings....
